Aaron, born and raised in Toronto, Canada, began creating films early on, learning animation techniques at the Art Gallery of Ontario. After graduating from York University's film production program, he worked as a television writer, stop-motion animator, and editor, earning two Screen Award nominations. He directed several award-winning short films, and his feature debut, Rhinoceros Eyes (2003) starring Michael Pitt, received the Discovery Award at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival. His next film, Tennessee (2008), was an indie road drama featuring Mariah Carey and produced by Lee Daniels. His third film, The Entitled (2011), was a thriller starring Ray Liotta. His most recent works are animated features: Spark: A Space Tail (2016), a space adventure with voices by Hilary Swank, Jessica Biel, Susan Sarandon, and Patrick Stewart, and Arctic Dogs (2019), featuring Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, James Franco, Anjelica Huston, Heidi Klum, and John Cleese.
