Joseph Benjamin launched his career in 1995 as an extra in the film "Crossroads." Soon after, he pursued full-time modeling and acting in Nigerian television commercials and print ads. In 2002, he returned to the film industry, taking on various roles, including television appearances. Joseph has collaborated with top Nollywood talents such as Wale Adenuga, producer of the popular TV show "Super Story," and Royal Roots Productions. With Royal Roots, he played a supporting role in the widely successful family drama series "Edge of Paradise," aired on Africa's largest cable network, Multichoice.
Though "Edge of Paradise" marked a significant milestone, Joseph's rise to fame was just beginning. Seeking to expand his presence in entertainment, he took on the role of the "Banker" in the popular TV show "Deal or No Deal." During this time, his passion for music grew alongside his acting career. Besides being an award-winning actor, Joseph is also a songwriter and singer dedicated to serving the Lord through his music. In 2006, he auditioned for "Idols West Africa," advancing to the top 70 out of thousands of contestants. Pursuing his musical ambitions, Joseph joined the Lagos-based commercial band Rapture as lead vocalist, which was among the most popular groups in the state.
In addition to acting and music, Joseph has built a successful career as a voice-over artist. After being discovered by an advertising agency, he became one of the most sought-after voices for radio and TV commercials, working with major brands like Coca-Cola, Heineken, Amstel Malta, Pepsi, MTN, GLO, Airtel, Etisalat, Samsung, Nokia, LG, Tekno, Multichoice, Stanbic Bank, First Bank, and UBA.
Joseph's voice-over and acting careers quickly gained momentum. In 2008, he secured a supporting role on the hit drama series "Tinsel" for Mnet. The following year, he landed the biggest break of his career as host of the music reality show "Project Fame West Africa," the regional equivalent of American Idol, a role he held from 2009 to 2016. Hosting "Project Fame" propelled his career forward. In 2015, he took on a major role as Chuka Obi in ABC Network's "Desperate Housewives Africa," further solidifying his standing in the industry. Following "Desperate Housewives Africa," Joseph received numerous local and international award nominations.
