John Beckett brings over 30 years of experience in the music and film industries. At 19, he joined Adam and the Ants as guitarist under the stage name Johnny Bivouac, recording and touring extensively with the band.
After departing from The Ants, he established his own studio to further develop his production and composition skills, while continuing to perform live with various bands as a guitarist and occasionally as a keyboard player. John refined his composition and production abilities by working on numerous corporate videos and advertising jingles before composing for mainstream TV, notably the successful Carlton/ITV children's series 'The Spooks of Bottle Bay,' which aired for three seasons. Since then, he has contributed to many film and TV projects as a composer, music producer, music supervisor, and performer.
In the 1990s, John became a partner in the British independent film and TV company Fugitive (known for The Krays, Death Machine, The Passion of Darkly Noon), initially managing the publishing division, Fugitive Music Ltd. His role expanded to include production, administration, and music supervision across the company. As of November 2010, he serves as a director of the Fugitive Group.
John has produced and remixed tracks for a diverse range of artists, including Freddie Mercury, Denise van Outen, and Rolf Harris. He also explored hardcore techno with the project 'Vagen,' inspired by scoring a three-part series on the history of the Volkswagen Beetle. He continues to use the pseudonym Johnny Bivouac for all guitar credits.
On the acting front, his musical expertise earned him the role of Strings, a musically frustrated policeman, in the BBC comedy series 'Operation Good Guys.' This led to additional roles in the films 'Final Cut' and 'Love, Honour and Obey.
