Biografia
Martin was born in Didsbury, Manchester, and attended Burnage Grammar School, as it was known then. After finishing school, he joined the RAF, serving for nine years, with most of his time spent at HQ AFCENT in the Netherlands. Upon returning to the UK, Martin became a salesman, dealing in mortgages, life assurance, and pensions, eventually rising to the position of Sales Manager. After several years, he joined the West Midlands Police as an officer.
In 2002, Martin made his first television appearance, breaking up a fight in the Queen Vic between Paul Trueman (Gary Beadle) and Gary Hobbs (Ricky Groves), playing a police officer in the popular British soap EastEnders. He went on to become a familiar face on the show, arresting several cast members. Returning to his Manchester roots, Martin then portrayed Jim, a police officer, in another leading British soap, Coronation Street. Shortly after, he moved to London and appeared as a police officer in films such as Love Actually, Basic Instinct 2, and Harry Brown.
Martin has had the privilege of working with remarkable people both on and off camera and is grateful for all the support he has received. He is a proud father of four children: two sons, Sam and Frankie, and two daughters, Cara and Freddie, whom he adores. For five years, Martin worked as a therapist, supporting people with Multiple Sclerosis at the MSTG in Brentwood, Essex. When not filming, he can often be found fishing at a lake, playing squash, or enjoying golf in West Sussex.
