Biografia
Kathryn Shasha was born and raised in New London, Connecticut, the daughter of Gilbert and Carol Shasha. From a young age, Kathryn was drawn to performing. She began as a National competitive gymnast, gaining experience with pressure and performing before audiences. Between ages 5 and 7, she tap danced on stage and later participated in school plays. While attending the Williams School in New London, CT, she joined the National Thespian Society and, under the guidance of Jane Martineau, discovered her passion for acting. Kathryn has taken on both comedic and dramatic roles throughout her career.
In 2016, she and her fellow cast members won the LA Webfest "Outstanding Ensemble Cast" award for their work on the dramatic series "Family Problems," where she portrayed Agent Cable. She was also named best actress of the week in multiple indie polls. Kathryn stars as Shelby in the TV miniseries "Girl in the Attic," scheduled for release in 2017. Her comedic roles include an eccentric acting coach in the film "East Coast Zombies," a "Southie" bartender in the comedy web series "Pizzer Makers," and a loud-mouthed Italian in the improvisational comedy show "The Ginsburg and Baccigalope Wedding."
With over 100 commercials to her credit, Kathryn has also served as a spokesperson for the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb for several years. She frequently works on Public Service Announcements, most recently for The Harold Grinspoon Foundation promoting child reading advocacy. Kathryn has appeared in numerous Southeastern Connecticut short films such as "Mrs. Greer," "Tricks of the Trade," "Reservations for Dinner," "The Ouija Knows," and the award-winning underground short "Losing Face."
Her training includes work with esteemed coaches like Peter Kelley, Unified Acting System instructor Tim Hillman, and Master teacher Reno Venturi of the Actor's Gym. She is currently a member of AGR New York. Beyond her decade-long career in film and television acting, Kathryn is also a mother, Paleo nutrition practitioner, yoga enthusiast, and kickboxer. She lives just outside Manhattan with her daughter Mattia Lynn and supportive husband Michael.
