Biografia
Heather Taylor is a writer and director specializing in TV, film, and audio, focusing on complex, messy family relationships often explored through supernatural, horror, or sci-fi themes. Her work aims to challenge stigmas surrounding mental illness, disabilities, and poverty. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Heather holds citizenship in Canada, the UK, and the US.
In addition to her TV and film projects, Heather co-wrote the fully scripted audiobook Know Your Newlywed, narrated by Tyler Posey and Mary Mouser, for Simon & Schuster. She also co-hosts Braaains, a podcast that delves into the workings of the brain, mental health, disabilities, and their depiction in film and television.
Heather began her writing career as a playwright and has authored three poetry collections. A former journalist and advertising professional, she is known for her creativity and thorough research skills.
She earned a Master’s degree in Screenwriting from City University, London, and was a 2026 1in4 Coalition/Netflix TV Mentee. Heather is an alumna of the Royal Court Young Writers' Program, the Bell Media Prime Time TV program (in partnership with ABC Signature Studios), and a RespectAbility Lab TV Writing Fellow. She actively participates as a member of the Writers Guild of Canada Feature Film Committee.
