Sharon Farber is a distinguished composer of film, TV, and concert music. She serves on the Executive Committees of both the Motion Pictures and TV Academies, is a four-time Emmy Award nominee, a board member of ASCAP, and Vice-President of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. Her accolades include the Society of Composers and Lyricists Award for "Outstanding Work in the Art of Film Music," the Visionary Award in Music from The Women's International Film & Television Showcase, and a Telly Award.
A graduate of the renowned Berklee College of Music with a dual major in Film Scoring and Concert Composition, Sharon has composed for major networks and cable channels such as NBC, CBS, Showtime, Lifetime, and the WB, as well as for feature films. Her film scores have been commercially released and performed live in concert.
Recent works include the Sundance/Berlin feature documentary "Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power" and the Heather Locklear TV movie "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff: The Kristine Carlson Story."
Last year, Sharon was one of nine female composers featured at Lincoln Center’s historic "Women Warriors" concert, curated by Maestra Amy Anderson, and also performed at a concert celebrating female composers sponsored by the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC). The International Film Music Critics Association praised her suite featuring music from "Children of the Fall," "When Nietzsche Wept," and "The Dove Flyer," stating she "wowed the crowd."
Sharon produced and arranged the United Nations' Corona Relief Fund music video "I'm Standing With You," collaborating with thirteen-time Oscar nominee and iconic songwriter Diane Warren and award-winning director Gev Miron. The project features 17 lead vocalists from nearly every continent and 160 singers and instrumentalists, making it the largest of its kind.
In the concert music arena, Sharon boasts numerous national and international credits, having worked with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific Serenade Ensemble, Northwest Sinfonietta, and others. Her compositions have been performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center (NY), Disney Hall, and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (LA), as well as internationally.
Her acclaimed cello concerto for orchestra and narrator, "Bestemming" ("Destination"), inspired by the life of Holocaust survivor and hero Curt Lowens, has been performed widely. A recent four-city Pacific Northwest tour featured renowned cellist Amit Peled and conductor Maestro Yaniv Attar, who praised Sharon as "one of the most exciting and versatile voices on the contemporary music scene today." Cellist Amit Peled described the concerto as "truly a jewel in our repertoire—a deep musical journey."
