Biografia
Bruno was born in São Paulo, Brazil, as the youngest of five siblings. By the time he learned to read, he was already working as a model and appearing in TV commercials in Brazil. In 1965, he began acting in amateur theater under the direction of Iacov Hillel in São Paulo.
His professional career on stage started in 1970 with the debut of "O Comprador de Fazendas," directed by Dulcina de Morais at the Anchieta Theater in São Paulo. Bruno collaborated with some of Brazil's finest theater directors, including Oswaldo Mendes, Ana Maria Dias, Irineu Cirqueira, Artur Rico, and Geraldo Viere. By his early twenties, Bruno was well-known within the theater community. Over his career, he performed in more than 30 plays and over 40 children's productions.
Bruno Barroso is a prolific theater actor, director, and producer based in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. He founded "Pavilhão B30" in the Communication and Arts department at the University of São Paulo (USP). Additionally, he established the "Grupo Timol Teatro Infantil Monteiro Lobato," a children's theater group in São Paulo. He also appeared in the final production at the Leopoldo Froes Theater in São Paulo before it permanently closed.
Though Bruno is primarily a theater actor who toured Brazil's most prestigious theaters, he also appeared in several TV shows, soap operas, miniseries, and films during his career in Brazil. Unfortunately, most of these programs are not yet listed on IMDb. Bruno was part of a generation of actors who became stars in Brazil. For him, theater was the only place he truly belonged, and he remained devoted to it throughout his career.
His fans witnessed his early retirement in 1992. Bruno chose to retire to find some peace and quiet after working since he was five years old. He vanished from the public eye and relocated to Recife, in northern Brazil, after falling in love with the city during his first visit.
His fans continue to hope Bruno will soon come out of seclusion and return to the stage or television, as Brazilian audiences do not judge actors for their age. Let’s hope he makes a comeback very soon!
