Greg O'Connor has composed music for over 30 television series and created more than 1,000 featured songs for TV, films, and commercials. He is a Primetime Emmy Award winner and has been nominated four times. His work spans all genres, including variety shows, single-camera and multi-camera comedies, animation, one-hour dramas, game shows, sketch comedy, award shows, stand-up, reality TV, hidden camera programs, documentaries, and virtual reality projects.
Recently, Greg composed the score and songs for the Threshold Entertainment drama My Home Unknown, the documentary Baby Boomer Yearbook directed by Randal Kleiser, and the animated feature Bobbleheads The Movie for Universal Pictures. He co-wrote the viral "Laura Dern" song for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which received widespread media coverage. Greg also created the main title theme for the Disney+ series Prop Culture and composed logo music for House of Paine Entertainment, led by Academy Awards producer Rob Paine, as well as for Threshold Entertainment, produced by Lawrence Kasanoff.
He wrote opening themes for ABC's Greatest Hits, produced by Grammy-winning producer Ken Ehrlich, and the theme song for Gay Skit Happens, featuring members of the Grammy-winning vocal group Pentatonix. Greg scored the sci-fi thriller virtual reality series Defrost, directed by Randal Kleiser.
Greg co-wrote and produced "Someone Needed Me the Most" and "Firecracker" for the legendary band Chicago’s latest BMG album alongside founding member James Pankow. Together, they also penned two Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 20 hits for Chicago, "The Only One" and "Show Me a Sign," as well as "Here with Me" from the album Stone of Sisyphus. Additionally, Greg produced tracks for Barry Manilow's album The Greatest Songs of the Eighties and his hit Christmas single "Christmas is Just Around the Corner."
He served as composer, songwriter, and musical director for all 15 seasons of the sketch comedy show MAD TV, David Alan Grier's Chocolate News, Jeff Foxworthy's Blue Collar TV, Bob Einstein's Super Dave Spike-Tacular, and the hidden camera series The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. Greg was musical director and composer for ABC’s reality competition The Next Best Thing and scored the Aaron Spelling cop drama 10-8. Early in his career, he wrote music for the Emmy-winning sketch series The Ben Stiller Show and FOX’s The Sunday Comics.
Greg has created numerous featured songs for films such as My Home Unknown, Bobbleheads, Hoovey, A Sunday Horse, The Greening of Whitney Brown, The Poker House, Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers, and the animated Lionsgate movie Foodfight. He composed theme songs for Will Sasso's Ten Minute Podcast and The Caliendo Cast, starring comedian Frank Caliendo. Greg also composed the logo music for Ruddy Morgan Entertainment, led by Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy.
He holds a degree in music composition and theory from the University of Notre Dame and completed graduate studies in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television at USC.
