Biografia
Born in 1944 at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Steve's first passion was music. During his late teens, he wrote songs and played in The Cornells Band, which featured Robert Linkletter (son of Art Linkletter), Peter Lewis (son of Loretta Young), Charlie Correll (son of Charles Correll, Sr.), Andy (of Amos 'N' Andy), Jim O'Keefe (son of Dennis O'Keefe), and Tom Crumplar (son of Tom Crumplar).
Capitalizing on the celebrity offspring trend, the band appeared on "The Gary Moore Show" and "The Les Crane Show," performing at various Santa Monica venues, including The Space Bar at Disneyland, where they attracted large audiences. Steve was the lead singer and co-wrote the song "Surf Fever" with Charlie Correll for the "Beach Bound" album, which was later re-released under the title "Surf Fever" on the Sundaze Label.
In 1964, while studying music at UCLA, Steve was approached by an agent about acting, leading to a contract with 20th Century Fox Studios. Under this contract, he portrayed Haythorn in the Oscar-nominated film "The Sandpebbles," starring Steve McQueen, Candice Bergen, and Richard Crenna. Fox also cast him as Chet Morton in the ABC pilot "The Hardy Boys."
Inspired by his music background, Steve produced several albums for the group Inner Dialogue with Pat Curtis and Raquel Welch, featuring songs by Gene Dinovi and Tony Velona. His collaboration with Ms. Welch led to his role as Associate Producer of the CBS and Coca-Cola television special "Raquel." He later worked with producers Pierre Cossette and Burt Sugarman, which paved the way for him to help develop and ultimately serve as Executive Producer of the award-winning TV series "The New Zoo Review." The show gained recognition for teaching moral values to children through music and was honored by Tricia Nixon as the featured children's entertainment at the White House Easter Celebration.
Building on his success in children's programming, Steve established a production company and, as Executive Producer, helped launch the "Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe Awards" as an annual television event. He also executive produced ABC's "Steve Allen's 25th Anniversary Salute," "Robert Young with the Young" featuring The Carpenters, Artie Johnson, and Sandy Duncan, "Desi Arnaz Jr's California My Way" with Mama Cass and Paul Williams, along with numerous other shows, pilots, and specials. During this period, Steve was an active member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. After selling his production company, he shifted focus to humanitarian work, accepting a consulting role with World Vision International for broadcast fundraising television specials supporting child sponsorships.
