Marva Ollivierre is a Gemini-nominated Executive Producer, management accountant, mask maker, Floyd Chalmers Award-winning writer, WIFT Mentorship Award recipient, and honored Women On The Move awardee for community service. With over twenty-five years of experience in the arts and culture sector across various disciplines, Marva has developed a diverse skill set. Her extensive career in the arts has fueled a lifelong dedication to mentoring, leading to the creation in 1995 of the ongoing lecture and workshop series Making Your Art Your Business, which has evolved into the media-focused Business of Creating Screen Content workshops.
Marva prioritizes market intelligence and knowledge sharing in her business approach. For example, to ensure the authenticity of the Gemini Best Series Nominee SA/CAN JOZI H production scripts, she collaborated with the South African Scriptwriters' Association to create, produce, and fund a free, six-week scriptwriting workshop for South African screenwriters.
For the past seventeen years, Marva has been deeply involved in screen media production, accumulating over 90 credited broadcast hours. She spent five years as Executive Producer, Head of Business Affairs, and Development Executive at Inner City Films. Several of her productions have achieved widespread acclaim and continue to generate significant international sales, including US broadcast revenues. Notable works include Skin Deep, a Gemini-winning Best Lifestyle/Documentary series that was pioneering on the international stage, and JOZIH, a Canada/South Africa co-produced medical drama series that earned multiple Gemini nominations, including Best Drama.
In 2006, Marva founded her independent production company with a diverse range of projects. The commissioned feature documentary Made In Canada, which she wrote and produced, premiered at festivals and on broadcast in 2013. Currently, the documentary I Am Not a Bully is in postproduction; Men In Raincoats, a graphic animated feature docudrama, is in pre-preparation; and the coming-of-age narrative feature Bannock & Bratwurst, written by 2013 Canada Screen Award-winning writer Shannon Masters, is in final production preparation.
