Karan Ashley’s career spans over 20 years. Born in Odessa, Texas, and raised in Dallas, she started as a child singer in the girl group KRUSH. Signed to Perspective and A&M Records, their debut single, "Let's Get Together," featured on the Mo Money soundtrack. They were exclusive artists under the legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. With a strong dance background, Karan co-choreographed KRUSH’s routines alongside renowned choreographer Tina Landon. The group earned a platinum record and had a hit dance track, "Let's Get Together (So Groovy Now)," collaborating with artists like Janet Jackson, Johnny Gill, Karen White, Lo-Key, and Mint Condition.
After five years with KRUSH, Karan shifted focus to acting. She appeared in national commercials for companies such as Southwest Airlines, TGI Fridays, Chevrolet, and AT&T.
Her breakthrough came when she won an open call audition against over 10,000 contenders, landing the role of Aisha, the Yellow Power Ranger, on the top-rated kids’ show Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. She starred in over 80 episodes and the 20th Century Fox-released film, Power Rangers: The Movie.
Karan continued her acting career with appearances on numerous TV shows and films including Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, The Steve Harvey Show, One on One, The Parkers, Kenan & Kel, Chat Room, The Opposite Sex, Taylor's Wall, Wicked Weekend, Jazz Scene, and The Encounter. She has collaborated with major networks and companies such as MTV, BET, ABC, Nickelodeon, Disney, The WB, 20th Century Fox, and Asiatic Productions, and founded her own production company, GAG Order Films.
Though acting remains her passion, Karan expanded into producing and writing with GAG Order Films, starring as lead actress, writer, and producer in two feature films, Unto Thee and Devon's Ghost. Both films performed well at festivals and sold DVDs in over 17 countries. She also produced content for BET, including exclusive work for their BET on Jazz channel.
Last year, Karan launched her own production company, KASH Pictures and Entertainment, producing two television pilots. She created, wrote, and produced A Day in the Life, a reality-based talk show co-hosted by herself and Kel Mitchell. She also developed Turning Point, which she submitted to the OWN network and received over 14,000 votes in one week.
Despite her many roles, Karan remains dedicated to advancing her career and studies improv with BANG Improv. She identifies foremost as an actress, continuously refining her craft. She frequently makes appearances at conventions, connecting with thousands of fans who grew up watching Power Rangers. Grateful for her original audience’s support, Karan views herself as a beginner in the industry, excited about the future possibilities, with a hit TV show and a platinum album already to her name.
