Biografia
Williams obtained his film degree from the Cinema Department at Los Angeles City College. His first feature film, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, became one of the most decorated films in Philippine cinema history, earning 22 awards, including three Best Picture and two Best Director honors from the Star Awards and the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), the country’s premier award institution.
Demonstrating his versatility, Williams directed his next two films: The Escort, an erotic thriller that became a nationwide hit, and A.W.O.L., a military action movie produced in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which helped revive the action genre in Philippine cinema. His third film, Mga Mata sa Dilim, debuted exclusively on iWant TV, the first streaming service from ABS-CBN, the largest TV network in the country.
After these successes, Williams directed his first television series, Ang Probinsyano, on ABS-CBN for two years. Under his leadership, the show set record-breaking ratings and became the longest-running and most successful primetime series in Philippine TV history. He later moved to GMA Network, where he currently directs Encantadia Sanggre, the network’s flagship series. Williams is the only director to have led the two biggest franchises from the country’s top television networks.
Williams also created campaign advertisements for four senators and produced a presidential ad for Rodrigo Duterte, the 16th President of the Philippines. Additionally, he developed campaign materials for Senator Imee Marcos in collaboration with Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the 17th President.
In 2020, Williams spearheaded the full media branding for the Philippine Army’s YouTube channel. He also produced projects for the Department of National Defense, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
