Born on October 13, 1942, Jerry Jones was raised in Arkansas and now lives in Dallas, Texas, the home of his team. He and his wife, Gene, have three children—sons Stephen and Jerry Jr., and daughter Charlotte—all of whom are involved in the family football business. Jones began his football journey at the University of Arkansas in 1964, serving as co-captain of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Master of Arts from the university in 1965. As one of the few owners with notable success as a football player, Jones has reshaped national football through his leadership and expertise. After becoming general manager of the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, the team won championships in the 1992, 1993, and 1995 seasons, making Jones the first NFL owner to guide his team to three league titles within his first seven years. By the end of his first decade of ownership, the Cowboys had made eight playoff appearances, claimed six division titles, reached four conference championship games, and won three Super Bowls, earning recognition as the NFL's Team of the 1990s. His success continued with NFC East Division titles in 2007, 2009, 2014, and 2016, with the 2016 team marking the 14th playoff appearance under Jones' 28 years of leadership. Beyond on-field achievements, Jones' nearly 30-year career was honored with his 2017 induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His contributions to sports marketing, promotion, and the creation of AT&T Stadium have left a lasting mark on the NFL and American sports culture.
