Biografia
Peter Caulfield was born in Boston and raised in Nottingham, East Midlands, England. His mother, Joan, hails from Essex, while his father, Shane Caulfield, is of Irish descent. He trained at the Paul McCartney Drama School (LIPA), earning a First-Class BA (Hons) degree in acting. Peter has experience across theatre, television, film, and animation.
He is best known for roles in popular TV shows such as ‘I Hate Suzie Too’ (Sky), ‘Doctor Who’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Modus’ (BBC), ‘Absentia’ (Amazon), and Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’. He portrayed Francesco in the critically acclaimed Russell T. Davies dramas ‘Cucumber’ (Channel 4) and ‘Banana’ (E4), and will reprise this role in the highly anticipated new series ‘Tip Toe’, set to air on Channel 4 in summer 2026. Additionally, he will appear in the upcoming season of ‘The Capture’ as the new head of the Trojan operatives.
His film credits include ‘China Man’ (BFI), ‘Take Cover’ (Paramount), ‘The Mystery of DBCooper’ (HBO), ‘Great Yarmouth Provisional Figures’ (cinema), ‘Strange Ways Here We Come’ (Netflix), and the award-winning animated short ‘After the End’.
Peter is also recognized for his extensive West End theatre work, featuring in original cast roles in Olivier Award-winning productions such as ‘Tammy Faye’ (Almeida), ‘Enron’ (Royal Court, West End), ‘Our House’ (West End), and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ (Regent’s Park). He received acclaim for his portrayal of Alfie in the National Theatre’s Broadway and West End hit ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ (West End & tour). He also played Bob Cratchit in the sell-out production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the Old Vic. He has shared the stage with Ian McKellen at the Old Vic, and performed alongside Tom Hardy, Hayley Atwell, and Rory Kinnear at the National Theatre’s Olivier stage in the restoration comedy ‘Man of Mode’. Other notable theatre roles include Jenson in ‘The Wild Duck’ (Donmar Warehouse), Ginger in Jez Butterworth’s ‘Jerusalem’, and a starring role in Jim Cartwright’s ‘TWO’ at Greenwich Theatre opposite Kellie Shirley. He is excited to bring this acclaimed production to the Park Theatre this spring.
An accomplished vocalist, Peter has performed in several Stephen Sondheim productions, including ‘Into The Woods’ (Royal Opera House), ‘Follies’, and ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’ (National Theatre). He also took the lead role of Vida Boheme in the new musical ‘To Wong Foo’ at Hope Mill Theatre.
In addition, he provides the voice of Diallos in the multi-award-winning video game ‘Elden Ring’.
