Marc-André Casavant explores artistic and emotional realms with a keen interest in the unconventional and visual arts, embracing challenges beyond his comfort zone. A graduate of the LaSalle Conservatory of Performing Arts, he further honed his skills through theatrical workshops in Montreal and internationally. Under the non-binary project Discosalope, he portrayed his subversive solo character "Fontaine" in cities including Montreal, New York, Brooklyn, and Berlin. His work is inspired by a cinematic aesthetic marked by peculiarity, creating extravagant worlds that blend elements of science fiction, fantasy, surrealism, and dreamlike sequences.
In recent years, Marc-André presented his performances "Pourquoi pas ?!" and "Privé" at Montreal's Fonderie Darling Gallery. His piece "Fragments," featured at the Home Theater Festival, stands as a significant milestone in his artistic development, exploring the boundaries of reality.
On screen, he is known for roles in television series such as "District 31," "19-2," "Patrice Lemieux 24/7," and "Tout sur moi." He also starred in the internationally recognized films "Au gré du vent" and "Destination."
In 2017, he directed and produced the play "L'eau des nuages," adapted from Daniel French's novel, staged at CTD'A (Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui) during the Montreal Fringe Festival. This project marked the founding of his company, Les Productions Lion Casavant. Two years later, he directed and produced his debut short film, "19:00," a gripping exploration of a harsh and unsettling world, which earned official selection at the 33rd Image + Nation Film Festival LGBTQueer Montreal.
Trained as an actor, Marc-André’s love for poetry, bold creativity, and defiant approach to performance have driven him to challenge conventional artistic norms. He actively engages in film, television, and theater, crafting distinctive thematic works showcased internationally.
