Omer Ben-Shachar is an award-winning writer and director. His debut short film 'Tree #3' won a Student Academy Award, Urbanworld’s Best Young Creator Award, Palm Springs’ Audience Award, and was nominated for a Student Emmy, among others. His short 'Single Residence Occupancy' won the Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at the 2025 Atlanta Film Festival and was named the first place winner at the Imagine Entertainment & Adobe ‘From Minutes to Movies’ ShortFest. His latest film, ‘Houston, We Have a Crush’, is now on the festival circuit, with selections including Palm Springs, SXSW Sydney, NewFest, Austin, Urbanworld, Heartland, and HollyShorts, with recent wins at Leeds, Sulmona, and Guadalajara.
Omer was a 2024 Film Independent Screenwriting Lab Fellow, a 2023 Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow, a participant of the 2020 Warner Bros. TV Directors' Workshop and the 2019 Paramount's Viewfinder Directors Program. He is a graduate of the American Film Institute’s Directing Program, where he was awarded the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award. Beyond narrative work, Omer has directed music videos and commercials featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Nowness, Directors’ Library, and at the Hammer Museum's Flux Series, earning recognition from The One Club for Creativity, multiple Vimeo Staff Picks, a Webby Award, and a Cannes Lions Young Directors Award nomination.
