Dorothy McKim is an Oscar-nominated, two-time Emmy® Award-winning producer who began her career with Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1984. Over the years, she held various production roles before becoming producer for the acclaimed "Prep & Landing" trilogy ("Prep & Landing," "Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa," and "Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice") and recent animated shorts like "Tick Tock Tale" (2010) and "The Ballad of Nessie" (2011). She also produced Disney's 2007 computer-animated feature "Meet the Robinsons." Her latest producing credit is the groundbreaking 2013 Mickey Mouse short "Get A Horse!," which premiered alongside "Frozen," won an Annie Award, and received an Oscar® nomination for Best Animated Short Film.
McKim started at The Walt Disney Studios in 1980 in the staffing department, then transitioned to Editorial/Cutting for live-action Disney Channel programs, followed by a brief period in Publications. Her first project at Walt Disney Animation Studios was the feature "Oliver & Company" (1988). She later worked as production manager, director of production, and co-producer on major animated classics including "The Little Mermaid" (1989), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991), "The Lion King" (1994), and "Tarzan" (1999).
Between 2007 and 2010, McKim served as development producer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, collaborating with directors on film development and overseeing all animated short films produced by the division.
Her accolades include Primetime Emmy® Awards for "Outstanding Animated Programs" for "Prep & Landing" and "Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa." She has earned four Visual Effects Society (VES) Award nominations, winning one for "Outstanding Visual Effects" for the 2009 animated TV special "Prep & Landing," which also garnered her an Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production.
Raised in Chatsworth, California, McKim attended Pierce College and West Valley College, where she earned a business degree. She lives in Santa Clarita, California with her husband, Brian, and their children, Tyler and Natalie. In her free time, Dorothy coaches ice skating and enjoys choreographing routines for her students.
