David-Michael Madigan’s creative life is defined by reinvention, artistry, and an unwavering commitment to storytelling across disciplines. His journey began on stage at the age of ten, where he trained extensively in dance, acting, and voice under the guidance of Scarlett Antonia, a distinguished protégé of Martha Graham. By sixteen, he was already forging his own path, co-founding and touring with "Young Performers," a troupe of emerging artists performing throughout Colorado. His early career brought him to prominent stages, including performances with Music Theater of the Rockies at the Pikes Peak Center, where he appeared alongside celebrated talents such as John Raitt, Patrice Munsel, Gretchen Wyler, Earl Wrightson, and David Canary. These formative experiences instilled not only a foundation in performance, but a lasting commitment to discipline, collaboration, and excellence. At eighteen, David-Michael made a pivotal shift, relocating to Los Angeles to expand his creative horizons. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), marking the beginning of an evolution from performer to visionary creative. While continuing to perform in Disneyland’s entertainment division during his college years, he began shaping a broader artistic identity-one that would soon extend far beyond the stage. Transitioning into the world of art and design, David-Michael built an internationally recognized career defined by refined aesthetics and a global perspective. As the founder of David-Michael Design, Inc., he leads a firm whose work spans continents and has garnered numerous awards and accolades. His projects have taken him around the world, establishing him as a respected voice in the design community. In parallel, his work as a published writer has appeared in design publications across the United States and China, further amplifying his influence. His expertise and on-camera presence led naturally to television, where he became a featured design contributor on KTLA’s Morning Show and Fox’s Good Day LA. Through these appearances, he brought a polished yet accessible perspective on design to a broad audience, further defining a brand where creativity meets clarity and artistry meets lifestyle. Expanding his creative reach once again, David-Michael moved into film, where storytelling remains central to his work. As an executive producer, his debut project, Superfag, achieved international acclaim on the festival circuit, including winning the HBO Audience Award. He later served as President of Expression! Films, developing and producing both narrative and documentary projects grounded in meaningful, thought-provoking storytelling. His credits include The Call (starring Didi Conn and Emily Bridges), and The Last One, a powerful documentary exploring The Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. At the core of David-Michael’s work is a commitment to purpose as well as artistry. Beyond his creative endeavors, he is a passionate advocate for human rights, actively supporting organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign and The Trevor Project.
