Biografia
April Martucci, recognized for her roles in Stray Dogs (2020), Coyote Hills (TV Series, 2020), and Betrayed (TV Series, 2020), was born in Rockville Centre, a New York City suburb. She has Italian, Estonian, and Dutch heritage. Raised on Long Island, April traveled extensively during her youth, living in London, Prague, and Berlin before settling on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
She graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase College. After her time abroad, April returned to NYC and found her theater community at the Herbert Berghof Studio. There, she trained under top instructors such as Uta Hagen and Austin Pendleton. She participated in their showcases, with her portrayal of the Queen in Ruth Wolff’s "The Abdication" earning particular acclaim. She was drawn to exploring the complex, darker aspects of Queen Christina of Sweden’s character.
As a child, April worked as a print model. Her agent once advised her parents to change her last name, believing "Martucci" sounded too ethnic. While attending Oceanside High School in New York, she arranged her classes to finish by 1 p.m., allowing her to take ballet classes at the Joffrey Ballet School in the West Village, where she later performed with the company. Her high school peers recall her practicing pointe work in the cafeteria while others socialized. Later, she studied Afro-Cuban dance and salsa in Havana, Cuba, and undertook Argentine tango intensives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During her time at Purchase, she developed a passion for yoga, eventually creating her own practice called FireDragonYoga™. This method earned her the distinction of being the "most in demand" yoga instructor in New York Magazine’s annual Best of NY issue.
April describes herself as an introvert but credits her common sense and street smarts to living in New York City and traveling the world. She is currently training in boxing with professional fighter and coach Wale Omotoso at the Churchill Boxing Club in Los Angeles.
