Biografia
Actor Daniel McVicar, based in Italy and Los Angeles, exemplifies a Hollywood talent embracing independent European productions. His early television success introduced him to global audiences, but his international travels connected him with filmmakers worldwide. In 2012, he worked in Poland with director Jacek Bromski on the film "One Small Step for a Man" and appeared in the popular Italian TV series "Medico in Famiglia." He continues to take roles in European projects performed in both English and Italian.
One of twelve siblings raised in Colorado, Daniel McVicar moved to the Los Angeles area to study at the California Institute of the Arts. In Hollywood, he trained with Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Paul Sills, and Milton Katselas. He also completed a Shakespeare Intensive at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
In the U.S., he is recognized for his comedic appearances on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," his portrayal of Rock Hudson in "The Elizabeth Taylor Story," and his role on "The Bold and the Beautiful."
He works extensively in Italy and Europe, where he maintains a residence. His Italian-language projects include the film "Men vs. Women" directed by Fausto Brizzi, the cult sci-fi film "Dark Resurrection," and a role as Diabolik in a cult music video for the Italian band Tiromancino. A Mensa member, McVicar has learned enough Russian to perform in the award-winning Russian director Dimitris Astrakhan’s film "The Fourth Planet."
His company, MagmaWave, operates out of Los Angeles and Turin, Italy, producing new media, full-length "Making Of" documentaries, promotional videos, and developing feature films and TV series such as "Good and Evil" (2009). As a producer, writer, and director, his short film "Always a First Time" was featured in the best of the fest at the Salento Film Festival. He was also an early innovator in online video with his award-winning show and community LateNiteMash.
