Biografia
Giselle Töngi, known simply as "G" within her community and among fans, is a well-known and respected figure in the Filipino and Filipino-American community. With over 20 years of experience in television and film, she has been active in both the Philippine and Filipino-American entertainment markets.
Töngi is primarily celebrated for her award-winning performances in film, television, and theater in the Philippines. In addition to acting, she is also a writer and producer. Her past projects include the UCLA-produced short film "Pinoy Grease," "Pinoy Tango," and "The Balikbayan Project: With the Bascos," a 13-part travel series about a second-generation Fil-Am family’s experiences in the Philippines, which was acquired by GMA Pinoy International.
A UCLA graduate, Töngi earned a degree in Communications with a focus on mass and new media, alongside minors in film and theater. She also holds a Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from Antioch University Los Angeles. Beyond her professional work, she is deeply involved in the Filipino-American community, frequently participating in and hosting events and fundraisers. Her personal mission has always been to blend her bicultural identity through her work.
Having been raised in both the Philippines and the United States, Töngi has developed a unique perspective that helps her honor her heritage. She states, "Bridging the gap between my two cultures by creating content specifically for Fil-Ams like myself is the core of my professional career. Being a voice for my Filipino community and representing the Fil-Am experience allows me to help define our culture and identity, a responsibility I take very seriously. This connects me with others who are also working to unite fellow Fil-Ams."
She also served as the executive producer of "Kababayan Today," the only daily talk show for the Filipino American community, which aired on KSCI-TV/LA18 in Southern California, KIKU-TV in Hawaii, and worldwide on TV5 from 2014 to 2017. Under her leadership, the show’s online viewership approached 13 million.
Currently, Töngi is a co-producer and Cultural and Community Liaison for the Broadway production of Here Lies Love, and she serves as the Executive Director of FilAm Arts, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting Filipino American artists and culture.
