Eduardo Gabor Dusek, also known by the stage names Eduardo Dussek, Eduardo Dusek, and Duardo Dusek (born January 1, 1958, in Rio de Janeiro), is a Brazilian actor, singer, songwriter, and pianist.
He started his artistic journey as a theater pianist at fifteen while studying at the National School of Music. Soon after, he began composing his own songs and formed a band that was eventually sponsored by Gilberto Gil.
By 1978, some of his compositions had been recorded by prominent MPB artists such as As Frenéticas (the samba "Vesúvio"), Ney Matogrosso (the fox "Seu Tipo"), and Maria Alcina (the frevo "Folia no Matagal," which Ney Matogrosso re-recorded two years later) — all in collaboration with Luiz Carlos Góes.
His music combined satire with humor. In 1980, he participated in Rede Globo's MPB Shell festival, performing the satirical song "Nostradamus" wearing only his underwear; although he did not advance, the performance gained public attention. That same year, he released his first LP, Olhar Brasileiro. However, his breakthrough came in 1982 with the LP Cantando no Banheiro, embracing emerging pop rock and featuring tracks like "Barrados no Baile" (with Luiz Carlos Góes), "Cabelos Negros" (with Luiz Antonio de Cássio), and "Rock da Dog" (Leo Jaime).
In 1984, he rose to fame with the LP Brega Chique, whose title track, popularly known as "Doméstica," was a sharp social satire echoing the era's bullshit theater movement. Following this success, he was among the performers at the inaugural Rock in Rio festival in 1985. The next year, he released Dusek Na Sua, featuring songs like "Aventura" and "Eu Velejava em Você," the latter becoming one of MPB's most poignant pieces and later covered by Zizi Poss. In 1989, he appeared in the musical Loja de Horrores, playing a dentist.
During the 1990s, stepping back from singing, he took on the role of Captain-Mor Gonçalo in the soap opera Xica da Silva on the now-defunct Rede Manchete. He also worked as a show director and, by the late 1990s, returned to performing as a comedian and singer, including a show centered on Carmen Miranda. He disclosed in the magazine Who that he suffers from Parkinson's disease.
In 2000, motivated by numerology and to encourage the correct pronunciation of his name, he adopted the stage name Eduardo Dussek, adding an extra "s" to his surname.
