Chicago native Trae Ireland is an accomplished Actor, Producer, Writer, and Director with a notable portfolio of film, television, and theatre credits. He had the opportunity to work alongside top-tier stars in the high-energy action film "FORTRESS," one of Bruce Willis's final projects. Trae has appeared on acclaimed HBO series such as the Golden Globe-nominated "SMILF" and the Emmy-nominated "Silicon Valley." He produced and starred in the popular seasonal BET Christmas movie "For The Love of Christmas," which airs annually across all BET platforms. After signing a deal with Netflix, Trae’s film "Pierre Jackson," which he both produced and starred in, set streaming records domestically and internationally. His performance earned him the HAPAWARD for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a feature film. In fall 2022, he released "I Left My Girlfriend For Regina Jones," a feature film he funded, produced, and starred in, featuring Elise Neal, KJ Smith, Wesley Jonathan, and Adel Givens.
In theatre, Trae has starred alongside Loretta Devine, Ledisi, and Ernest Thomas in Don B Welch's acclaimed stage play "Yes! God is Real." He also toured nationally with stars like Morris Chestnut, Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child), Tiffany Haddish, Brian White, and Clifton Davis in David E. Talbert's popular play "What My Husband Doesn't Know."
On the major studio front, Trae has been producing and consulting for Sony Screen Gems since 2002, contributing to projects such as "First Sunday," "Death At A Funeral," "Takers," "Think Like A Man 1 & 2," "Resident Evil," "Underworld," and "Black & Blue," among others.
As a director, Trae has been mentored by comedy veteran Bentley Kyle Evans (known for "Martin," "The Jamie Foxx Show," and Netflix's "Dad Stop Embarrassing Me"). This guidance has led him to direct several comedic sitcoms including "Arnold's Caribbean Pizza," "House Out of Order," and "BFFs."
