Rodney Perry thrives in the spotlight as a stand-up comedian, delivering bold, reality-based humor. Married for 24 years with six children (five daughters and one son), Perry draws from his family life to entertain audiences with his fatherhood tales. He also enjoys giving back by teaching weekly improv classes in his hometown of Atlanta, helping nurture the next generation of comedians—a legacy he hopes will keep laughter alive for years to come.
Known for his sold-out live shows under the name Rodney Perry Live, he is one of the hardest working men in comedy and shows no signs of slowing down. While comedy is his main strength, Perry isn’t afraid to take on serious roles, as seen in the film "Mr. Right," where he acted alongside Columbus Short, and the upcoming drama "Broad Street Bullies," in which he portrays a notorious gangster. Expanding his talents, he has also stepped into producing, working on projects like the independent film "A Song for Jordan."
Perry’s early comedy career began as a writer and warm-up act for Kim Whitley on her talk show "Oh Drama." From there, he leveraged his skills to open for major comedians such as George Lopez, Steve Harvey, and Cedric the Entertainer. Over the next decade, he appeared frequently on television in various roles. Hosting shows like "Who's Got Jokes" sharpened his craft and fueled his passion for screen work. His big break came with a starring role as "Harold" in Tyler Perry's "Madea's Big Happy Family," propelling him into a fast-paced career. Perry found a strong platform at Bounce TV, hosting "Off the Chain," which helped boost the network’s cable presence through high ratings. The show evolved into a sold-out tour, and his comedy special "Rodney Perry: 44 and Still Ticking" became Bounce TV’s top-rated special.
A survivor and fighter, Rodney overcame a stroke that temporarily left him unable to use his left side. His dedication during rehabilitation has left little visible impact today. He also survived Covid-19, though he jokes it wasn’t intentional. Perry credits God entirely for his survival and believes he still has important work to do.
Rodney Perry is slated to appear in "Coming 2 America," expected to release during the Christmas season. He is producing and starring in a SiriusXM show titled "That Joker’s Funny" and plans to co-write, direct, and produce an eight-episode mini-series for Comedy Hype called "Someone You Should Know." Rodney Perry simply never stops.
