Biografia
Jackson Yee (Yi Yangqianxi) is a versatile artist excelling in film, music, and dance. He is an alumnus of the Central Academy of Drama.
Starting his career early, Yee gained recognition across multiple artistic fields. At 12, he joined the boy band Tfboys; by 16, he launched his own studio to focus on independent projects, achieving notable success. His street dance skills and charisma were showcased on the variety show Street Dance of China (2018). His debut physical album, Liu Yanfen, known for its cinematic style, became China's highest-grossing physical solo album.
Yee earned critical acclaim and a Golden Eagle Award nomination at 16 for his breakout role in the historical drama The Longest Day in Chang'an (2019). His film debut in the Oscar-nominated Better Days (2019) brought him international recognition and numerous Best Newcomer awards across China and Asia. He has since become a prominent figure in Chinese cinema, starring in acclaimed and record-breaking films such as A Little Red Flower (2020), The Battle at Lake Changjin (2021), Nice View (2022), and Full River Red (2023). His compelling performances have garnered Best Actor nominations from major Chinese film awards, including the Hong Kong Film Awards, Golden Rooster Awards, China Huabiao Film Awards, and Hundred Flowers Awards.
A passionate supporter of cinema, Yee advocates for filmmakers and emerging talent. He served as a jury member for the Asian New Talent Award at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival and was elected to the China Film Association in 2024. He actively supports independent cinema and new directors, contributing significantly to the First International Film Festival since 2020, including backing awards for indie documentaries and films.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Yee is committed to philanthropy. He founded the Jackson Yee Fund in 2017 to assist children without consistent parental care, recently focusing on aesthetic education for left-behind children. His charitable work includes donations to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and support for disaster relief.
Yee’s impact reaches beyond entertainment. In 2024, he was named China’s first Olympic Friend, highlighting his global influence and dedication to social causes. His international presence includes attending the Grammy Awards, speaking at WHO headquarters, presenting at the United Nations Youth Forum, and participating in the closing ceremony of the 18th Asian Games, firmly establishing him as a multifaceted artist and influential global figure.
