Gina Matthews - Founder/CEO: Little Engine Productions
Inspired by the beloved children's book, Gina Matthews, founder and award-winning producer of Little Engine Productions, embraces a guiding mantra in business: "I think I can." With experience producing major films and over 100 hours of television, Matthews has developed exceptional management expertise across the entertainment industry, collaborating with large film crews, directors, A-list talent, physical and post-production teams, as well as studio and network executives.
Her notable credits include popular romantic comedies such as "What Women Want" starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt, "13 Going On 30" featuring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, and "Isn't It Romantic" with Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth. She launched her producing career with the "Urban Legend" horror series and most recently produced the true story romantic drama "All My Life" for Universal Pictures.
Known for her relentless work ethic, strong creative vision, and deep industry relationships, Matthews has earned acclaim for championing projects that highlight strong female characters and amplify underrepresented voices.
She won an Emmy for Showtime's "Summer's End" starring James Earl Jones. "The Wishing Tree," featuring Alfred Woodard and Blair Underwood, received five Emmy nominations. Matthews also earned a GLAAD Award for co-creating the TV series "Popular" with Ryan Murphy. Her event series "Saints & Strangers," praised for its authentic depiction of Native Americans, garnered a WGA Award, the prestigious NAMIC Award, and three Critics Choice nominations.
Among her accolades, Matthews values the lasting impact of the ReFrame Stamp awarded to "Isn't It Romantic" for its success in gender-balanced hiring.
Holding an EU passport, Matthews is experienced in international co-productions and has filmed projects worldwide. Her Emmy-nominated series "Missing," starring Ashley Judd, was filmed entirely on location in Europe.
In the past year, Matthews ventured into technology by creating and producing the world's first interactive AR dance show, Move It!, for Snapchat, developing 60 AR lenses with Little Engine serving as the studio.
Matthews earned a BA in Telecommunications & Film with a minor in Photography from the University of Oregon. She is a member of the WGA, PGA, and Television Academy, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children, who still cherish "The Little Engine That Could" as their favorite childhood book.
