Randy Spelling is the son of the late renowned Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling and his wife, Candy Spelling. He and his sister, actress Tori Spelling, were raised in Beverly Hills, California, where he attended Montclair College Prep.
Randy made his television debut in 1992 on the Fox prime-time series Beverly Hills, 90210 and later appeared in a recurring role on the show. He went on to star in NBC's Malibu Shores (1996) and the popular soap opera Sunset Beach (1997). He also guest-starred on the WB series 7th Heaven (1996).
After spending three and a half years on Sunset Beach, Randy shifted to the music industry, founding his own record label, Spellbound/Vocab Records. As CEO, he managed A&R as well as production, promotion, marketing, and distribution. The label released albums by several platinum-selling artists.
While continuing his music career, Randy made his feature film debut in the thriller Held for Ransom (2000) from Emmet/Furla Films, acting alongside Dennis Hopper and Zachery Ty Bryan. He later co-starred in the indie cult hit Dorm Daze (2003) and had a co-starring role in Pledge This! (2006) with Paris Hilton, Simon Rex, Paula Garcés, Sarah Carter, and Carmen Electra.
Randy also appeared in the indie horror film Dimples (2008), starring opposite Ashley Peldon and Madeline Zima, and co-starred in the gritty indie horror Hoboken Hollow (2006) alongside C. Thomas Howell, Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper, Lin Shaye, and Jason Connery. He starred in Michael Damian's acclaimed directorial debut Hot Tamale (2006), co-starring Carmen Electra, Diora Baird, Harland Williams, and Jason Priestley. The film won the Indie Spirit Best Picture Award at the 2006 Boston International Film Festival.
Randy recently completed filming the eco-friendly independent feature Cosmic Radio (2007), set for release in 2007, co-starring Michael Madsen, Rider Strong, and Wes Studi.
Following his father's legacy, Randy wrote a pilot for Paramount Television last year and is currently developing several film and television projects slated for production in 2007 and beyond. He is also a producer on A&E's upcoming real-life series Sons of Hollywood, premiering in April 2006.
