Jacob Gallagher serves as Talent Manager and Senior Partner at Calliope West Artist Management. Under the creative alias Jayk Gallagher, he is also a writer/director and a retired actor.
Recent series regular roles at Calliope West include Tyler Perry's Ruthless, Showtime's Work In Progress (a GLAAD Award nominee), and Crypt TV's Stereoscope. Recent studio feature credits include Godzilla: King of Monsters, Seberg opposite Kristen Stewart and Zazie Beetz, Little opposite Issa Rae, Stuber opposite Kumail Nanjiani, The Way Back opposite Ben Affleck, I Am Woman opposite Evan Peters, Clint Eastwood's Richard Jewell opposite Sam Rockwell, Horse Girl opposite Allison Brie, among others. E85 clients have starred in the Oscar-winning film SKIN and the titular feature alongside Danielle McDonald and Jamie Bell.
Jacob represents John O'Hurley, star of Seinfeld, Family Feud, and Dancing with the Stars; Mauricio Mendoza, a five-time series regular and star of SHOWTIME's Resurrection Boulevard; Yvonne Senat Jones and Celeste Pechous, both two-season series regulars; Latin American celebrity Marlene Favela; Allie Gonino, a three-time series regular known for IFTV's The Red Road, The Lying Game, and 10 Things I Hate About You; Elizabeth Rice, who portrayed Margaret Sterling on Mad Men for seven seasons; Allan McLeod, known for his five-season role as Jimmy on You're the Worst; and Jon Provost, the original Timmy from Lassie. As a director, writer, and producer, Jayk Gallagher is a Sundance Screenwriters Lab and Sloan Commissioning Grant finalist and received the 2019 Montana Film Commission Big Sky Grant for a feature film. He began by writing, producing, and directing episodic series for Fremantle Media, Current TV, and Sun Microsystems, as well as music videos described as "a kick to the gut" by SPIN Magazine, "breathtaking" by Huffington Post, and praised by Stereogum and Flaunt.
Gallagher cast and associate produced "Hajji" with Snowfort Pictures (XX), starring Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games) and Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead). He wrote, produced, and directed the LA noir sci-fi short and episodic proof of concept "Chronopath," which won the Directors' Choice Award at Sci-On! IFF 2019, premiered at MCNIFF, and screened at Juggernaut FF, First Contact FF, Atlanta Horror FF, and WMMIFF, among others. It was nominated for the "Out of this World Award" at the Official Latino FF and earned Best Actress in a Sci-Fi for lead Lynette Coll. The VFX were created by George Loucas (Beatriz at Dinner, Burning Sands). In 2020, Jayk's film "Drunk Girl Therapist" premiered at the 22nd San Francisco Black Film Festival and the HBO Women in Film festival.
In 2019, Jayk wrote, produced, and directed "Idyll," which debuted at the NY Latino Film Festival presented by HBO, starring Sundance alum Andrea Sixtos (series regular on CW's Arrow, Hulu's East Los High) and Vanessa Garcia (SWAT, MacGyver). The film won the 2019 Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short at Awareness FF and tied for Best Actress in a Drama at the Official Latino Film Festival. It also screened at Philadelphia Latino FF, North Carolina Gay & Lesbian FF, Oaxaca FF, San Francisco Latino FF, Seattle Latino FF, Silver State FF, Marina Del Rey IFF, and others. In 2019, Jayk cast and pre-produced the MLB feature film RAGE starring Marci Miller (Days of Our Lives series regular) and Mykel Shannon Jenkins (series regular on Bold & The Beautiful). In 2016, Jayk wrote, produced, and directed the short "Synching," starring Sundance alum Adam Gifford (Longmire, Wristcutters: A Love Story).
Jayk is currently in pre-production for his feature film The Apprehension of Dr. Kaczynski, for which he received the Big Sky Grant in 2019.
As an actor, Jayk's final role was John Corbin on HBO's Emmy-winning Veep. He is best known for his role in The Social Network and appeared in the Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar!. His television appearances include CSI: NY, SouthLAnd, Crash, Bernstein, and shows on CBS, TNT, MTV, ABC Family, Comedy Central, E!, and The Disney Channel. He stars as Brandon Dedd in the feature Dedd Brothers, available on Amazon and Netflix. He played "Handsome" in Western Wonderland, written and directed by Sundance alum Reza Safai, and appeared in promos for Jack Reacher 2 directed by Marcus Perry, Paramount's Head of Worldwide Creative Content. Jayk has appeared in over 45 national commercials and performed stand-up comedy regularly at The Comedy Store, The Improv Hollywood, and The Ha Ha Comedy Club.
Gallagher's grunge band Hobart W Fink was described as "imposing" by SPIN Magazine and "mosh-worthy" by CMJ. The band debuted two singles on KROQ's Rodney on the ROQ and received airplay on over 100 stations nationwide. Their songs featured in cult hits such as Sharknado 2 and Three Headed Shark Attack. Hobart W Fink's last two releases were recorded by Chris Kasych (Wavves, Phantogram, Vampire Weekend, P!nk, Santigold) and mastered by Alex DeYoung (Macy Gray, NOFX, Pennywise). The most recent EP includes guest vocals from Rachel Fox, former star of Desperate Housewives and current futures trader. The band performed six shows at South by Southwest 2016 and headlined festivals like Echo Park Rising, Make Music Pasadena, Venice Music Crawl, Buzzbands.la Chinatown Nights, as well as numerous indie venues across LA and the U.S.
Before forming the band in 2012, Jayk released four rap EPs over two years and participated in the national battle league Grind Time, garnering over 100,000 YouTube views for his intense battles performed live before thousands. He directed plays in Los Angeles with needtheater and Brimmer Street Theater Company, and in Boston with Circle Theater Group.
Jayk also worked as a show promoter, managing a band booking company and record label called All Scene Eye. ASE artists received heavy rotation on stations including KCRW, KPFK, KROQ, and KEDG. ASE was frequently contracted to book stages at major nationwide festivals and regularly booked talent at numerous LA venues. Jayk hosted All Scene Eye Radio every other Sunday on AM1630 KCHUNG, showcasing local bands, as well as past appearances on Skidrow Radio and OG Huskey Radio.
