JOHNNY K. PALMER
Born in Budapest, Hungary, and raised in Austria, Johnny K. Palmer has Jamaican and Ethiopian roots, making him a truly global citizen. Over the past decade, he has worked as a singer-songwriter in the music industry, sharing the stage with artists such as Delirious?, T-Bone, Jermaine Jackson, Kevin Max, and Kirk Franklin. Johnny first gained wider recognition in 2006 when he appeared on the Austrian casting show STARMANIA. Since then, he has written songs for Universal Music, Sony Music, M-Ton/Warner Music, Goldrecord, and Schubert Music Publishing, contributing to tracks for Hungary’s top artists as well as finalists and winners from TV competitions like X Factor, Rising Star, The Voice, and Megastar.
Johnny co-wrote two Eurovision entries for Hungary: "What About My Dreams" by Wolf Kati in 2011 and "One for Me" by ByeAlex in 2013. Since 2011, he has had three or more songs competing in Hungary’s national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest. He has also written for charting artists in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. With a background in graphic design, Johnny possesses strong skills in visual arts. In recent years, alongside graphic design work, he has directed and staged several live and TV productions as well as music videos.
In 2016, he became the musical director for the Hungarian daily sitcom "Holnap Tali," composing the theme song and overseeing the musical production of "SUN CITY: A Holnap Tali Musical," the stage adaptation of the TV show, which premiered in November 2017. While his musical roots lie in gospel and soul, Johnny has recently been active in rock, pop, and musical theater. In addition to his music career, in the summer of 2017, he secured his first significant acting role in Wash Westmoreland’s film "Colette.
