Born in Turin, he earned a degree in Economics and Business in 2004. In 2005, he made his acting debut in the TV series "Carabinieri," followed by his big-screen debut in 2006 with "A casa nostra," directed by Francesca Comencini. In 2007, he appeared in two films: "Saturno contro," directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, and "Lezioni di cioccolato," directed by Claudio Cupellini. In 2008, he starred in Luca Lucini's "Solo un padre," and in 2009, he featured in "Diverso da chi?" directed by Umberto Carteni alongside Claudia Gerini, earning a David di Donatello nomination for Best Leading Actor. That same year, he appeared in Michele Placido's "Il grande sogno" with Jasmine Trinca and Riccardo Scamarcio, portraying the leader of the 1968 student protest movement. Following a series of successful comedies, he took roles in two international films: Ryan Murphy's "Eat Pray Love" with Julia Roberts and "Le Guetteur" with Daniel Auteuil. In 2020, he starred in the TV series "Doc - nelle tue mani," which achieved widespread acclaim in Italy with an audience share exceeding 30%, and gained popularity internationally in countries including Spain, Portugal, France, England, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Latin America. The show's second season matched its predecessor's success. He also starred in the Disney Plus series "Le Fate Ignoranti," directed by Ferzan Ozpetek, based on the film of the same name. Since 2012, he has served as vice-president of the nonprofit organization 1caffe.org, which revived the traditional "pending coffee" practice as a charitable act to support those in need.
