Marcus J. Samuel is an American actor, writer, and entrepreneur originally from Orlando, Florida. He is the youngest of two siblings, raised by his single mother, Linda, a social worker. After finishing high school, Marcus moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended various colleges studying business management and computer technology. However, friends encouraged him to explore modeling and acting, as academics were not his strongest suit. Growing up in a small rural town in Florida, it took Marcus several years to build the confidence needed to pursue modeling and acting in the fast-paced city of Atlanta. Following years of challenges, including legal troubles and street life, Samuel decided to change his path and aim for a fresh start.
He began auditioning for modeling agencies but faced multiple rejections before shifting his focus to film and television. Samuel participated in unpaid independent projects to hone his skills and studied at the Alliance Theatre for two years to perfect his craft. After 2-3 years of independent work, he landed his first movie role in 2016 in "The Products of American Ghetto," starring alongside Robin Givens, Darrin Dewitt Henson, and Keith D. Robinson, playing the recurring role of "Miami Boy."
Samuel has since appeared on popular shows such as Fox’s "Star" with Queen Latifah, The CW’s "Black Lightning," and FX’s "Atlanta," where he portrayed the memorable character "Black."
Continuing to advance his career, Marcus recently appeared in "Women of the Movement," executive produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z, and in "Tales" on BET, created and directed by Irv Gotti.
He currently divides his time between Los Angeles and New York.
