Raised in the Boston area, Glenn gained public recognition in 1994 as a UFO researcher and unofficial spokesperson for Area 51, the secret military base in Nevada’s desert. The name "Area 51" became widely known partly due to his efforts to bring attention to the base during the mid-1990s.
In 1993, after achieving some success in computer software, Glenn relocated to the small town of Rachel, Nevada to focus full-time on investigating this undisclosed government site. Following a prominent 1994 New York Times Sunday magazine feature, he hosted numerous journalists and appeared in many news broadcasts as an Area 51 expert. A career highlight was his appearance on "UFO Cover-Up Live," a live two-hour broadcast hosted by Larry King from the desert near the base. He also featured on "The Montel Williams Show," national news programs like "CBS Sunday Morning," and early paranormal cable series such as "Sightings" and "Encounters." On these shows, Glenn acted both as an on-screen expert and an off-screen location coordinator, providing vital local information to producers and crews. He played a key role in helping TV teams successfully conduct complex expeditions in the remote desert.
Glenn stepped away from the spotlight in the early 2000s to focus on marriage and family but returned in 2009 as an on-screen guide and consultant for the History Channel’s "UFO Hunters" Area 51 episode, which became the series’ highest-rated installment. Since then, he has made roughly annual appearances on paranormal and news programs, mostly relying on his 1990s Area 51 experience. (He is no longer actively researching Area 51.) His recent appearances have been on German and Danish television. Glenn now identifies as a UFO agnostic, unable to confirm the existence of aliens but believing they are currently irrelevant to life on Earth.
A former airline employee and avid traveler, Glenn now lives permanently on the road without a fixed home. As of February 2017, he has visited 78 countries. He has independently produced several full-length travel shows on YouTube, featuring destinations like Kazakhstan and Arctic Norway. His striking photos and videos from around the globe are shared on two Instagram accounts. He posts almost daily on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and uploads to YouTube about once a week under the username "BadDalaiLama."
Glenn is also an author. His book, "The Case Against Marriage," has been published in English and Turkish. Additionally, he has self-published two novels, including "Harper Junction," which tells the story of an inch-tall young man living on a basement train set.
