Biografia
Chase Azimi was born and raised in Northern California. A native of the East Bay Area, he attended Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, CA, before graduating from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, CA, in 2006. During his senior year at Foothill, Azimi was part of a student crew responsible for shooting, editing, and managing daily video bulletins for the entire student and faculty body. Recognizing his passion early on, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema with a Dual Emphasis in Production and Studies from San Francisco State University's Cinema Department in 2010.
While at S.F.S.U., Azimi created several short 16mm and digital films, maintaining a 3.42 GPA and consistently making the Dean's List. He was actively involved on campus as President of the Competitive Gaming Community, organizing numerous local, regional, and national video game tournaments. As a dedicated teaching assistant, he taught and lectured in an Instructional Videography Class (ITEC 770), guiding students on shooting and editing their own films. He also pursued advanced coursework in Cinematography and Production, preparing for a career in the Camera Department.
In his senior year, Azimi participated in San Francisco State's inaugural bilateral exchange program with China, joining select graduates and undergraduates at the first International Documentary Workshop at Shanghai Normal University's Xie Jin School of Television & Film. Under the mentorship of his professor and Beijing Film Academy graduate Weimin Zhang, Azimi and his team created a "rockumentary" titled _Made In China (2010)_. This two-week collaborative project was co-shot, edited, and produced alongside fellow SFSU students Ben Goldberg, Hart Perez, and director Javier Roberto-Carlos. The film premiered to a sold-out audience at the 2010 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. It later received the 2011 Delphic Art Movie Award and screened at various film festivals both internationally and across the United States.
Azimi currently lives in the Northern Hollywood area and works as a freelance Camera Assistant, Grip, Electrician, and Behind-The-Scenes Photographer. Outside of work, he enjoys watching hockey, playing bass, and reading.
