Frank Nicotero grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, passionately supporting the Pirates, Steelers, and stand-up comedy. Late at night, he would dim the TV brightness in his room to secretly watch Johnny Carson, David Letterman, and Evening at the Improv without his parents knowing. He honed his comedic skills at North Allegheny, winning "Class Clown" for three consecutive years, though he still holds some resentment over placing second to Jackie Joyce his freshman year.
Frank made his stand-up debut at the Funny Bone in Pittsburgh in 1988, where he realized he could earn money by making people laugh. His career took him to LA and eventually led to an appearance on Lifetime TV’s game show DEBT, hosted by the legendary Wink Martindale. Drawing on years of watching TV and absorbing trivia, Frank won over $14,000! (His episode is available online along with his appearance on Fox Sports’ The Ultimate Fan League.)
He went on to write and produce several game shows and got his big break when asked to help create a pilot called Street Smarts. In a fortunate turn of events, Frank landed the hosting role, and the show aired 760 episodes over more than five years in syndication.
After the show concluded, Frank returned to stand-up, appearing on Comics Unleashed, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The Wayne Brady Show, and various cable programs. He narrated two seasons of TruTV’s It Only Hurts When I Laugh and, in 2014, joined the cast of TruTV’s hit How to Be a Grown Up, which continues to air frequently.
In November 2014, Frank made his network stand-up debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. His debut album, That Street Smarts Guy, is available on all major streaming platforms.
