Jaime Velez-Soto is a seasoned producer, director, and creator with a diverse career spanning film, television, live sports, and entertainment. With over twenty years of experience behind the camera, his unconventional journey is marked by curiosity, adaptability, and a persistent drive to transform ideas into engaging audience experiences.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Velez-Soto relocated to Florida as a teenager, forging a path far from the typical Hollywood trajectory. Before entering the entertainment industry, he worked as a firefighter and performed as a knight at Medieval Times, where he gained unique skills in horseback riding, sword fighting, and live performance, enriching his creative foundation.
His entertainment career began at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, where he started as an intern and contributed to shows like Double Dare 2000, Taina, Slime Time Live, G.A.S., and Noah Knows Best. During this time, he was mentored by noted television directors such as Kim Fields (Facts of Life, Living Single) and Chuck Vinson (Sesame Street, All That, Gullah Gullah Island), experiences that deepened his knowledge of production, performance, teamwork, and visual storytelling.
Velez-Soto's career expanded into independent feature films, television pilots, and narrative productions, taking on roles as assistant director, producer, and director. His film work includes titles like Rockabilly Zombie Weekend, Grace, and The Tenant. As a director, his feature Turning Back earned a spot among the top ten Christian movies and received numerous awards at international film festivals.
In collaboration with director of photography Nick Woolfolk (All New Mickey Mouse Club, Tarzan: Epic Adventures, The Wayne Brady Show), Velez-Soto directed all 26 episodes of Disney Channel’s live-action multi-camera comedy series Game On!. The show saw a 36% rise in viewership among kids aged 8 to 14, topped its time slot for the first four weeks, and helped boost the channel’s viewership by 18% in that demographic.
This broad experience now serves as the foundation for his current endeavors. Through his company, JVS Creates, Velez-Soto develops original TV concepts, films, unscripted formats, branded content, and creative projects, working closely with filmmakers, producers, networks, investors, and emerging talent.
His guiding philosophy centers on the belief that successful productions come from collaboration, resourcefulness, and the commitment to bring ideas fully to life. Whether navigating the fast pace of live television or the meticulous craft of filmmaking, Jaime Velez-Soto continues to pursue a boundary-free creative career, crafting stories, creating opportunities, and transforming scripts into screen realities.
