Cee Cee Michaela (pronounced MICK-KAY-LA) hails from Hickory, North Carolina, where she began singing in church as a young child. By age ten, she was taking classical voice lessons, and by fourteen, she had developed a four-octave vocal range and was performing in five languages. Graduating as a North Carolina Honors Scholar, she was also recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Cee Cee attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in Dance and Voice on a Terry Sanford Scholarship. She furthered her studies at the Boston Conservatory of Music with a BCM Scholastic/Talent Scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theater.
One early morning in Boston, around 5:00 a.m., Cee Cee took the forty dollars her mother had sent for books, skipped class, purchased a $29.99 Greyhound ticket, and traveled to New York. Upon arrival, she bought a bagel for $2.50, juice for $1.50, and a BackStage newspaper for $1.75. While browsing, she found an ad for a new Broadway show, "Jelly's Last Jam," and attended the open call at 1:00 p.m.
After moving to New York, Cee Cee was cast as Viola, Gregory Hines's sister, in Broadway's Jelly's Last Jam. She also appeared as Charlene on ABC's soap opera All My Children. She starred in the Canadian production of Broadway’s Once On This Island in Toronto, earning a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for Best Female in a Musical.
Cee Cee performed in the hit Smokey Joe's Cafe as Brenda, a show that ran on Broadway for five years. She played the lead role in Nomathemba, alongside Ladysmith Black Mambazo, at the Kennedy Center, earning a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Actress.
Her screen credits include the HBO film Gia and the feature film Senseless. She guest-starred on The Steve Harvey Show as Emma Mae (dual roles), and appeared on CBS's City of Angels, Chicago Hope, Promised Land, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She had a recurring role on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and appeared multiple times as Noreen on Lifetime’s Strong Medicine, executive produced by Whoopi Goldberg.
As a series regular, Cee Cee starred on the syndicated show Born Free, which aired internationally. She also played Yvonne, the quirky cop, in eight episodes of UPN’s Girlfriends (2000-2008), executive produced by Kelsey Grammer. A singer-songwriter, Cee Cee has released two albums featuring a rich fusion of soul, jazz, folk, and world music.
Her songs have been featured on several television shows, including UPN’s Girlfriends, Fox’s Party of Five, Time of Your Life, and CBS’s Promised Land. She chose to distribute her music independently through her own label, Driven By A Vision Records. Cee Cee won First Place at the 4th Annual Amassi Center Women in Jazz New Artist Showcase, performing at the Wilshire Ebell.
She is the author of four books: I Wish I Had Known, The Adventures of Zoe Greene, The Enemy's Secret Diary, and Zuleana - A New Way of Life. Currently, Cee Cee travels worldwide as an empowerment speaker and is recognized as one of America’s leading weight loss specialists with her trademarked clean eating protocol and wellness brand, Zuleana Nutrition. She has helped thousands achieve weight loss and disease prevention and is affectionately known as the "Harriet Tubman of Health." She has been happily married to Wilbert Floyd for nine years and resides on the East Coast.
