Nicole Stoffman, born on March 16, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a Canadian actress and jazz singer. A native of Toronto, she began learning French at the age of seven while living in Aix-en-Provence in southern France. In 1987, Nicole received a Gemini Award nomination for her role as Stephanie Kaye in the acclaimed CBC TV series Degrassi Junior High. Her other acting roles include the lead in the TV sitcom Learning the Ropes alongside Lyle Alzado and Yannick Bisson, as well as the lead in the feature film Anchor Zone with Mark Critch and Henry Czerny.
In 2002, she was the featured vocalist for Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards, a vintage "hot" jazz band performing music from the 1920s and 1930s. On their first cross-Canada tour, Nicole performed with the group at the Montreal and Ottawa Jazz Festivals, among other concerts nationwide.
Between 2002 and 2006, Nicole served as Artistic Director, vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and bandleader of her French café jazz ensemble, Nicole Stoffman's Jazz Boheme. The band featured Roberto Rosenman on solo guitar, Drew Jurecka on violin, and Chris Bartos on double bass. Le Jazz Boheme appeared on CBC's Vinyl Cafe, Radio-Canada's Les Arts et Les Autres, and performed at Yonge-Dundas Square’s lunchtime concert series. Their clients included Copps Coliseum, Mediacom, and Air France.
She studied vocal technique with Caroline Leslie, a Royal Conservatory of Music alumna and vocal coach to the a cappella group The Nylons. She also took guitar lessons from Steve Briggs of The Behop Cowboys, a Toronto-based western swing band honored with the 2002 Livin' Blues Gold Award for Blues Excellence.
Nicole graduated with distinction from York University in December 2010, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Studies. In 2014, she graduated with high distinction from the University of Toronto with a degree in political science, history, and French studies.
In 2011, Nicole was selected as one of 36 candidates nationwide to participate in the Parliamentary Guide Program in Ottawa. During this period, she conducted 200 tours of Canada’s Parliament for 5,000 visitors from across the country and around the world, delivering tours in both official languages.
Nicole is currently pursuing a professional certificate in fundraising management at Humber College.
