In recent years, she has embraced her passion for storytelling by directing feature films. Drawing from her unique background, including a family history of porn stars, sex workers, and thieves, Bergere wrote, directed, and starred in her debut micro-budget film, Come Simi. Filmed in just 10 days with a budget of $10,000, Come Simi won multiple festival awards such as Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Feature, and secured worldwide distribution through The Orchard. Her second film as director, the award-winning Spare Room, is a visually striking and beautifully told story featuring both breakout and seasoned performances. Written by a Chicago-based woman who specifically sought Bergere to tell her story, their collaboration was highlighted in Forbes magazine, where Bergere was named one of the top five female filmmakers on the festival circuit in 2019. Known for eliciting genuine emotions and performances from her actors and her decisive leadership on set, Bergere consistently achieves remarkable results despite limited time and budgets. Spare Room is distributed globally through Gravitas Ventures.
Bergere resides in Culver City with her three daughters, her husband who is a professional chef, and two rescue dogs with bad breath.
