Sonja Klaus is a renowned Film and Television Designer based in London, UK. Beginning her career as a set decorator, she quickly became a leading figure in the industry with credits including the Oscar-winning epic Gladiator, American Gangster, Prometheus, Tomb Raider I and II, Robin Hood, Kingdom of Heaven, and X-Men First Class.
Over the years, Sonja developed a passion for Production Design, leading projects such as Ridley Scott's A Good Year, Mathieu Kassovitz's Babylon AD, and the award-winning BBC drama Taboo, created by Tom Hardy and Steven Knight. More recently, she designed Tim Miller and James Cameron's highly anticipated Terminator: Dark Fate reboot, as well as Steven Knight's reinterpretation of A Christmas Carol for BBC/FX. In 2019, Sonja began designing the Amazon Prime series The Power, adapted from Naomi Alderman's best-selling novel, a project that took three years to complete due to pandemic-related delays. She also designed Great Expectations, featuring Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham, produced by BBC/FX and Disney, marking her third collaboration with writer Stephen Knight. This was followed by & Sons, a feature film directed by Pablo Trapero, starring Bill Nighy, Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, Noah Jupe, George MacKay, and Johnny Flynn.
Sonja's work has taken her across the globe, including the USA, Canada, Thailand, Cambodia, South Africa, India, Kenya, Morocco, Greece, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Monaco, Hong Kong, China, Malta, and Portugal.
