Harvey Morris, President and CEO of Tuff Stuff Productions, is an Emmy Award-winning producer, songwriter, vocal arranger, professional drummer, actor, and videographer. His broad and varied experience has established him as a consummate professional in the entertainment industry. He is making history with his powerful remake of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the most iconic song in African-American culture, known as The Negro National Anthem.
Born in the Bronx, New York City, Harvey’s parents recognized his passion for music early and bought him his first drum set at just two years old to prevent him from banging on pots and pans. By age four, Harvey and his cousins were singing and dancing at family gatherings to Motown and Stax Records, signaling his destined path as an entertainer.
Raised in a household with devout grandparents, Harvey attended St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Harlem. At eight, he began singing in the children’s choir under the guidance of Yvonne Clark. By twelve, he recorded his first commercial for American Airlines with musical director Leon Tubman, also from St. Luke A.M.E. Church. His talent has continued to grow and evolve ever since.
In 1999, Harvey founded Tuff Stuff Productions (TSP) with the motto, "Welcome to Tuff Stuff Productions where you can be the star you are!" The company is dedicated to success and excellence. Harvey’s vision is to empower individuals through entertainment and business, discovering unique talent and developing artists into well-rounded professionals who can become leaders in the entertainment industry.
Thanks to his efforts, TSP has secured contracts and booked performances for Harvey and other clients with some of music’s biggest names. Harvey has shared the stage and collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Cameo, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, Mos Def, The Main Ingredient featuring Cuba Gooding, Freddie Jackson, GQ, A Taste of Honey, Bobby Humphrey, Taylor Dayne, Alyson Williams, George Faison, Gavin DeGraw, and others. His career scrapbook is filled with tour dates, photos, recordings, and memorable opportunities. Harvey has also worked with prominent wedding organizations and prestigious venues such as Valli Music, Doug Winters Music, Steven Scott, Total Entertainment, Skip Brevis Music, ETA, Band of NY, The United Nations, The American Museum of Natural History, The Hayden Planetarium, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, The Rainbow Room, The Universal Amphitheater, and The House of Blues in Las Vegas.
Harvey has lent his voice to Nickelodeon network projects and produced music for Ashley Stewart, a women’s clothing company. He also produced music for the PBS special "Voice in Conflict," which won him an Emmy Award in 2009.
Making his acting debut, Harvey worked with director John Carney and actors Mark Ruffalo, Keira Knightley, Catherine Keener, Hailee Steinfeld, and CeeLo Green in the 2014 film "Begin Again." In 2017, he collaborated with director Michael Gracey and actors Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo on the movie "The Greatest Showman."
One of Harvey’s proudest achievements is his 2016 gospel album, "Harvey Morris & The House of Praise." He credits divine inspiration for the music, lyrics, videos, and compositions, saying it was brought forth through the grace of God.
