Lili Valenty, a versatile Polish-born actress, appeared in about a dozen Broadway plays during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s before taking on various minor on-screen roles later in life. Born around 1900, she began her career on the German stage, where she gained fame. In the early 1930s, she moved to the United States, aiming to replicate her European success. Although she did not achieve major stardom, she secured a moderately successful career in radio and on Broadway. Her New York theater credits include "Bitter Stream" (1936, her debut), "Cue for Passion" (1940), "The Land Is Bright" (1941), "Sky Drift" (1945), and "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" (1950). In 1955, she took over the role of Baroness Livenbaum in the hit Broadway show "Anastasia," starring Viveca Lindfors and Eugenie Leontovich, which later toured. Later, Lili moved into film and television, often cast in minor decorative roles that did not showcase her talents. She made her film debut alongside Anna Magnani in the 1957 melodrama Wild Is the Wind, followed by small parts in Can-Can (1960), The Story of Ruth (1960), Rome Adventure (1962) with Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette, Elvis Presley’s Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), and the Jayne Mansfield comedy It Happened in Athens (1962). Sometimes credited as "Lili Valenti," she appeared occasionally on TV in roles such as mothers, madames, gypsies, nuns, and ballet instructors. She passed away in Los Angeles in 1987 at the age of 86, leaving no survivors.
