Jennifer Dawn was born in the Pacific Northwest and raised in Ashland, Oregon. She began her musical journey at age eight, performing classical violin before audiences. Later, she expanded her talents to include piano and choir singing, where she sang alto and performed solos both vocally and on the violin. As she matured, Jennifer explored drama and acting but ultimately discovered a passion for journalism and writing, working as a news reporter for The Shelby Star. During college at Lane Community College, she contributed to the Torch newspaper and developed an interest in sports photography and filming athletic events.
Jennifer is a published poet, featured in the Library of Congress collections Poetic Voices of America and Selected Works of Our World's Best Poets. She also wrote short stories for Redbook Magazine before transitioning into novel writing and becoming an author. An award-winning SAG-AFTRA producer and director, she has published three books: One Special Christmas, Jennifer's Journeys, and Bayou Secrets.
In film, Jennifer completed six projects in 2016 and recently directed and produced The HOUSE - Across the Lake. Her notable works include Flowers in the Snow, Don't Ever Tell, To the Top, Heavy Metal, The Other Side of the Rainbow, Passageway to Hell, and Saving the GPS Lady, filmed in New Zealand through her second company, Forbidden Tears Productions New Zealand Limited. Jennifer founded Forbidden Tears Productions LLC in Mississippi in 2010, later relocating it to Waldron, Arkansas, which she considers her film industry Mecca.
Holding a master’s degree in business administration and contract law, Jennifer is recognized as a rising force in the industry, often described as "the company people want to be with." In 2017, she launched a Forbidden Tears Production satellite office in Hot Springs, Arkansas, alongside a visual effects company in Little Rock. Her first SAG-AFTRA production was Passageway to Hell.
Beyond film production, Jennifer established her own publishing company for authors and developed what she calls DVD Audio Books. Forbidden Tears Productions also operates as a record label, marketing and distributing CDs and music video DVDs to support indie musicians in navigating today’s competitive, technology-driven market.
