Andrea Emmes is an American actress who began her career at the Trinity Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Hollywood, Florida, her family moved frequently, living in Indiana and Tennessee before settling in Riverside, Rhode Island, where most of her relatives reside. She has Italian, Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Jewish heritage.
After high school, Andrea returned to Florida to attend the University of Tampa for a year as a Liberal Arts major, then moved to Orlando in 1994 to pursue acting. Her first major role was in the 1950s-style show "Night at the Hop." She later performed as a singer and dancer at theme parks including Walt Disney World (as Ariel), Universal Studios Florida (Bride of Frankenstein), and Pirates Dinner Adventure (Princess Anita). Andrea also worked in voice-over for animation and video games. In 2001, seeking bigger opportunities, she relocated to Los Angeles.
In LA, she continued performing at Pirates Dinner Adventure California, Knotts Berry Farm, toured with the girl group "The GG Girls" across Los Angeles, and headlined on the Las Vegas Strip for 19 months. In 2006, after suffering a life-changing injury and being diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as RSD, Andrea retired from performing to focus on regaining function while managing this neurological pain disorder. This difficult experience inspired her to write, produce, and self-release her debut award-winning album, "I'm On My Way," which won an L.A. Music Award in 2008.
Andrea shares, "If I can inspire others who feel broken or are going through hard times, like I did, that there is still hope and they are 'Beautifully Broken' (the first single), then all of this will be worth it." In 2009, she returned to college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Game Art and Design, and spent two years as an associate game designer for Disney Interactive.
In 2010, Andrea teamed up with director and writer Cinzia Angelini to produce the CG animated short film "Mila." Set after the 1943 Trento bombing in Italy, the film tells the story of a young girl named Mila and highlights the impact of war on civilians, especially children.
"Mila" has achieved significant success on the film festival circuit, earning 78 awards and 151 selections. It was also among the 83 films considered for the 94th Academy Awards.
Andrea is a best-selling, award-winning audiobook narrator with over 400 titles to her credit, working with publishers and independent authors. She lives in Southern California with her husband. Her accolades include multiple Society of Voice Arts and Sciences awards, an Audie Award nomination, numerous Earphones Awards, and being named Best Female Narrator at the 2019 Independent Audiobook Awards.
Her debut novel, "Eternal Beauty," co-written with Ashley Fontainne, delves into the masks people wear both online and offline, the blurred lines between truth and illusion, and the self-deceptions that justify poor decisions. The book and its audiobook, narrated by Andrea Emmes and Marni Penning, are set for release on October 31, 2025.
