Kulbhushan Kharbanda, born in Hasan Abdal, Punjab, British India (now Pakistan), is a celebrated Indian actor known for his significant contributions to both mainstream Bollywood and parallel cinema. Renowned for his versatility and ability to embody a diverse array of characters, he is considered one of the finest talents in Indian film.
Starting his career in theater, Kharbanda refined his acting skills before making his film debut. He gained recognition in Bollywood with Shyam Benegal's critically acclaimed "Nishant" (1975), which marked the beginning of his involvement in parallel cinema, often collaborating with directors who explored socially relevant and thought-provoking subjects.
