Angela is an experienced international Screen Producer and Executive with a 30-year career in the film and TV industry. Before returning to New Zealand in 2000, she spent 15 years in the UK working in film and television. She held roles as Drama Co-Production Executive and Programme Finance Manager for Channel 4 and Film4. During her time there, she contributed to films such as Trainspotting, Secrets and Lies, Fever Pitch, Hilary & Jackie, Brassed Off, Welcome to Sarajevo, and Ken Loach's Carla's Song. Her TV drama credits include Queer as Folk, Tales of the City, Anna Karenina, Sword of Honour, Longitude, and Shackleton.
Upon returning to New Zealand, Angela partnered with fellow producer Rachel Gardner (See Saw Films) to produce Oscar-nominated Anthony McCarten's second feature, Show of Hands, and Sima Urale's Apron Strings. Committed to creative collaboration with talented filmmakers, Angela’s extensive production experience also sees her mentoring and taking on roles as an Executive Producer and Line Producer. She line-produced John Maclean's Slow West, starring Michael Fassbender, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Ben Mendelsohn, which won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. She served as development and executive producer on Miranda Harcourt and Stuart MacKenzie's debut feature, The Changeover, in 2017.
Her TV producing credits include the acclaimed drama series Cleverman Seasons 1 and 2, a New Zealand/Australian co-production with Goalpost Pictures, known for their recent work on The Invisible Man. Angela co-produced Channel 4's BAFTA-winning Not Only But Always with the UK's Company Pictures, starring Rhys Ifans. She has produced various New Zealand tele-features such as Tangiwai, Rage, Pirates of the Airways, Field Punishment, and the groundbreaking TV drama series Harry starring Sam Neill and Oscar Kightley. She was Series Producer on the preschool animation series Kiddets, the first official New Zealand/China TV co-production.
In 2019, Angela joined Bunya Productions (Mystery Road) in Sydney, Australia, producing Ivan Sen's feature Loveland and Leah Purcell's The Drover's Wife: The Legend of Molly Johnson, both slated for 2020 release. Prior to Bunya, she was Head of Production at Richard Taylor's Pukeko Pictures from 2014 to 2018. In 2020, she returned to New Zealand to produce Matthew J Saville's Juniper, starring Charlotte Rampling, and Michelle Savill's Millie Lies Low, with both films expected to be completed by the end of the year.
