Wayne was born in Vancouver, B.C. As a child, he dressed somewhat formally but later abandoned the three-piece suit. By age 9, he preferred a more casual look, often wearing a sports coat and slacks. He attended Studio 58 Theatre School and soon after graduating began working professionally as an actor. He won The DuMarier Search for the Stars with a memorable performance of "You Made Me Love You," accompanied by a portrait of Clark Gable. Over the next ten years, Wayne dedicated himself to theatre and television, performing in numerous live shows across Canada, Japan, and Scotland. His roles ranged from Shakespearean plays to musicals, murder mysteries, and children's theatre. He was also an active member of TheatreSports, a Canadian improvisational troupe. In film, he worked with Michael Crichton and Tom Selleck on the feature "Runaway" and guest-starred alongside Mickey Rooney in TV's "The Adventures of the Black Stallion." He served as the spokesperson for the B.C. Lottery and The Keg Restaurant chain for several years.
In 1991, Wayne relocated to Los Angeles and quickly began working in commercials and television. Early in his career there, he played dual roles—the father and an interplanetary dog—on the children's show "A.J.'s Time Travelers," which ran for 40 episodes and featured guests like Jeff Foxworthy, Carol Kane, Fred Willard, and Sandra Bernhard. He hosted the 26-part series "Mastering the College Experience" for KOCE-TV, which continues to air. Wayne has appeared in over 150 commercials for brands including Gateway, Lowe's, Denny's, and Pepto-Bismol. Recently, he joined Theatre 40, a Beverly Hills-based company. A highlight of his time there was originating the role of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle in the play "Roar of the Crowd," a critically acclaimed production about the actor's life and fall from grace. Wayne is a passionate fan of the silent film era, especially of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, Laurel and Hardy, and Buster Keaton.
Wayne is a series regular on the popular 'tweener' show "Wingin' It" and the Showcase comedy "Single White Spenny," which has David Steinberg as an executive producer. His television credits also include appearances on "Two and a Half Men," "Boston Legal," "The West Wing," "Drake and Josh," "Becker," "CSI," "Star Trek: Voyager," and "The X-Files." He also appeared in the film "Meet the Fockers." For nearly five years, Wayne proudly portrayed 'Ned, The Orkin Man,' the national pest control company's official spokesman on TV, radio, and in-person events. He has featured in hundreds of other TV and radio commercials, most recently in an Intuit commercial where he is surrounded by cupcake-eating coworkers.
Wayne is also a devoted family man. He and his wife, Bebe, have two beautiful daughters, a large dog named Martha, three cats, and a well-stocked fish tank (though their hermit crab has passed away). He enjoys gardening, reading, and tackling household repairs.
