Philip Cook has written, directed, edited, and/or filmed hundreds of commercials, films, program openings, and on-air IDs for clients including The Washington Opera and MTV. He earned a degree in film production from the University of Maryland. His work has received numerous accolades, such as a Clio, Tellies, Pollies, National Cine Eagles, a Muse Award, and various independent film festival honors.
He has authored fifteen screenplays, with two sold and six produced.
At 24, he wrote and directed the feature film Star Quest, which premiered on the SyFy Channel during its inaugural year.
Cook has contributed articles to publications like American Cinematographer Magazine.
In 1994, he directed the feature film Invader for producer Menahem Golan, which aired on HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and internationally.
In 1998, he wrote, directed, and produced the direct-to-video feature Despiser, now in its fourth DVD release.
His animations are displayed in the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Postal Museum.
He produced Malice, an innovative original series recognized by the Writers Guild of America as "the Web's Most Cutting Edge New Media Content," available on Amazon. All three Malice films are being released as The Malice Trilogy.
Cook’s work is known for its dedication to original, high-concept storytelling, blending horror, fantasy, and science fiction. His films have developed a cult following, especially among indie genre cinema enthusiasts.
