Michael Medico’s debut short film, "Bitch.," was made on a $66 budget, premiered at Outfest, and screened at 13 international festivals before being named Best Short Film of 2009 by Frontiers LA magazine. He then created and directed the Father Tiger music video "First Love," featuring Noah Centineo, which received praise from The Advocate and the It Gets Better Campaign. Michael’s first television directing role was on "The Fosters," where he directed three episodes across the final two seasons, including the first part of the three-part series finale. Meanwhile, his mockumentary short "Walk It Out" premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, and his short "Divorce: The Greatest Hits" debuted at the LA International Shorts Festival. Michael began his television directing career with 10 episodes of "The Fosters" and its spin-off "Good Trouble." Over the past seven years, he has directed more than 25 TV episodes, including work on "XO Kitty," "The Resident," "Party of Five," multiple episodes of Netflix’s "Atypical" including the series finale, several episodes of Shonda Rhimes’ "Grey’s Anatomy" and its spin-off "Station 19" for ABC, as well as Ryan Murphy’s "Dr. Odyssey," "9-1-1," and "9-1-1: Lone Star." In early 2026, he directed his first feature film, "Sidelined 3," for Tubi, followed by his second feature, "Bender," shot in Belfast with Bill Burr, Chris O’Dowd, and Ruth Bradley. He is set to direct the film adaptation of "The Sky Blues" with Walden Media next. Michael holds a BFA in Theatre from Boston University and draws on his extensive experience as an actor in film, TV, and theater in NYC and LA to inform his directing. He also created and executive produced Hot in Hollywood, a celebrity-driven benefit event that raised over half a million dollars in three years for domestic and international AIDS organizations. He currently resides in Los Feliz with his husband Brian, their daughter and son, Everly Rose and Bowie, and their three playful dogs, Lady, Charlie, and Patch.
