Quanah Jay Hicks is an American composer, filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Orange County, New York. His work spans television, film, music production, screenwriting, cinematography, and the creation of the award-winning XOVA7 Universe.
As a composer, Hicks has contributed music to numerous television productions, including America Now, Flipping Out, Knife Fight, Wild Transport, Snapped: Killer Couples, Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis, Giuliana & Bill, Beverly Hills Nannies, Off Limits, and others. His music has appeared in productions associated with major networks including Bravo, TLC, Discovery, Sundance, FOX, and the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Hicks is also an award-winning screenwriter. His science-fiction screenplay XOVA7 won at the New York Script Awards and the Outstanding Screenplay Awards, reached the #1 position for sci-fi scripts on Coverfly’s Red List, and was recommended by The Black List, whose official account described XOVA7 as "one of the best things our readers read recently."
In addition to his work in television music and screenwriting, Hicks has written, directed, produced, shot, edited, and composed several independent film projects, including Teodora, 1.7 Alpha, and Saturn’s Window. His creative work often blends science fiction, metaphysical themes, mythology, music, and cinematic world-building.
Hicks is the creator of the XOVA7 Universe, an interconnected body of science fiction and fantasy works that includes XOVA7, The Algose War, Yorellian, The Isle of Pelgia, and Saturn’s Window. A feature film adaptation of XOVA7 is currently in production, expanding the universe from page and screenplay into cinematic form.
Beyond film and television, Hicks has worked as a guitarist, singer/songwriter, producer, and audio engineer, with experience across recording, scoring, and multimedia production. His background as a musician and filmmaker continues to shape his approach to storytelling, where sound, image, and narrative function as parts of one larger creative language.
